yknow ive been thinking a lot abt that post where that trans woman talked about binding her feet to make them smaller and less male-appearing and it really just made me realize that the reason trans women define their womanhood through femininity is because femininity is all men think we are. males forced us into femininity and now they have no idea who or what a woman is outside of this structure. they think that women are only the things theyve given to us and nothing else, that women are man-made. they cannot fathom that we are whole people and that we have qualities we’ve cultivated ourselves, independent of the oppressive sterotypes theyve shackled us to.

Foot binding is an ancient Chinese practice used to make women completely dependent on their husbands to get around. They essentially folded their feet in half over decades in order to achieve a harmful standard in order to be marriageable. Yo as a Chinese woman myself? This is horrifying. Hearing of a transwoman binding his feet in an attempt to appear more feminine, fills me with a sort of disgust that I can only tap into in interaction with these autogynephilic males. My female ancestors have suffered for millenniums at the hands of males. Males who bared such a strong hatred of women and such deep male insecurity, that they would bind their women’s feet, thus creating a false sense that women were naturally male-dependent creatures. All the better for these men that the women were pained through the process.

Women performed foot binding on their daughters, so it’s not “at the hands of males” directly, and that’s very important here.
Feeling the need to physically harm yourself or your daughters to have “feminine” characteristics like small feet is not appropriating the oppression of people who have been mutilated for not being feminine. It’s the opposite side of the exact same coin; the social ostracism for having “masculine” features is severe enough for both cis and trans women that women regularly harm themselves with starvation, corset tightlacing, trying to make their feet small, etc.
Trans women have foot size dysphoria very often. Ordinary women’s shoes are not available in larger sizes like men’s shoes are. You’re completely glossing over realities of the situation, so that you can claim that the intention was to appropriate Chinese history when in fact the intention was plain and simple self harm.
please do not try and belittle what MALES have done to chinese women, as i highly doubt you are also chinese.
