yeah because everyone knows lesbians are considered nonthreatening by hetero society. especially butch lesbians. no stereotypes of anger, irrationality, bigotry associated with lesbians. no feelings of exclusion are felt by half of society over women dating each other and making sexual resources for men a bit scarce. most people feel like women dating women and not men is totally normal. 

and everyone knows patriarchal culture totally accepts women raising children without men. lesbian couples with kids, making fathers seem obsolete are totally accepted as nonthreatening. even lesbian separatism is totally aligned with patriarchal values, if you really think about it. lesbian-headed families with no adult male as the head of the household and no possibility of a man being included in the future are totally aligned with the interests of patriarchy.

plus everyone knows how easy it is for lesbian couples to be middle class. i mean butch lesbians are treated and are afforded all the privileges men get in the financial world no? butch lesbians don’t stick out like a sore thumb, they fit in with the gender dictates of hetero-controlled society. they get well paying jobs easily and they are fast tracked up through the ranks by the many mentors that want to help them out. 

In my country even the most liberal pro-gay marriage ‘straight allies’ freaked out at the idea of letting lesbian couples have access to assisted reproductive technology. It was supposed to be legalised at the same time as gay marriage, three years ago, but it’s still illegal because they chickened out at the last minute. The incredibly progressive step that was taken this year was to repeal a law that sentenced doctors to 5 years in prison if they merely gave their lesbian patients advice on how to get IVF treatment abroad. But yeah, lesbian families are considered completely non-threatening.

Also the author of this comic made another one about how bi people are always super queer and never experience any form of straight (or ~straight-passing) privilege. So a bi woman raising kids with her straight husband is 100% queer and oppressed due to being a huge threat to hetero society but a butch/femme lesbian couple is pretty much a straight couple and completely non-threatening. And the majority of the queer community agrees with this reasoning.
